The three Opoku Ware Senior High School boys who were suspended indefinitely for being gay have been recalled.
They were dismissed in December 2015 after a disciplinary committee established they were homosexuals, following a ‘caught-in-the-act’ report made against them by their colleagues.
Athorities of the Ashanti Regional based SHS, came under fire from Human Rights Organisations for their action against the final year students but they were adamant given the students belonging to the gay community in that institution are said to have been gathering for support group meetings at some secret locations in the school, an activity the authorities do not approve of.
The school suspended the trio whose names have been withheld in this piece, as an example to others.
But following an enquiry by the Ghana Education Service, the Schools authorities have been asked to reinstate the boys.
They are now back in the school as day-students.
The three dismissed boys, are said to be members of a band that competed in the recent Vodafone Icons High School edition show.
