Former boss of the National Health Insurance Authority Sylvester Mensah has been held by officials of the Bureau of National Investigations.
Mensah is being held at the National Headquarters of the state security agency.
Reasons have not been given by officials.
A source close to Mensah told Kasapafmonline.com Friday Morning that the latter tendered himself to the BNI on New Year’s eve after some seven armed officials from the body stormed his residence to arrest him.
In what has since been described to us as a ‘Rambo-style’ invasion, the security agents conducted a search of the premises, manhandling his security detail in the process.
Mensah left the NHIA in June this year.
“In my work over the last six years, I am human, I may have certainly stepped on some toes. All I want to say is that if you happened to be one of those, whose feet I stepped on, please know that it wasn’t my intention. Again, I want to say that I have had a very happy six years, working with all the staff in the Authority,” he told a durbar of staff and key management members.
