‘Stop the talk, I’m with CPP’ – Gabby Nketiah hits back

2 min read

The vice presidential nominee for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the 2016 elections, Nana Gabby Nsiah Nketiah has called for a stop to questions about his loyalty to the party.

The 73-year-old businessman who is known to have served under the President Kuffour administration a few years back, had revealed in an interview with GHOne News that he was still a card bearing member of the largest opposition group.

The youth wing of the CPP subsequently issued a statement demanding Gabby Nsiah Nketiah to renounce his NPP membership or leave the Nkrumahist party.

But speaking at his unveiling, Nana Gabby Nketiah explained that questions over his loyalty to the party are unfounded stating he wouldn’t have accepted the offer to stand as running mate to presidential candidate Ivor Greenstreet.

He further added that: “I’m a beneficiary of Kwame Nkrumah’s ideology. When I was a young man, I enjoyed a scholarship introduced by Kwame Nkrumah and I went and studied engineering abroad.”

“…I came back and served in the army. The Minister of Defense Kofi Baako was my friend [Kwaku Baako’s father]. He loved me [and] even bought me a set of instruments.”

“And all these, you are asking me whether I’m CPP or whatever. Stop it there! I’m with CPP. Everybody at one time was CPP in Ghana here,” he added.
