The President of Ghana Premier League side Techiman City has confirmed the exit of head coach Yusif Abubakar.

Coach Abu, according to Micky Charles agreed to the club’s proposal to terminate their engagement due to irreconcilable differences.

The former Heart of Lions gaffer has since the club’s match day 14 home draw with AshantiGold stayed away from his duties. Coach Abu felt no longer safe after passionate fans, who were displeased by the results charged on him after the game with the Miners. He is said to have angrily reacted to slurs targeted at him and allegedly received threats on his life.

Speaking on the decision to part ways, the bankroller of Techiman City said “we queried coach Yusif Abubakar over his absence from training for three weeks now. He responded to the query but the content was not satisfactory.”

“We [Techiman City management] sat down with him and today [Monday] and have decided to mutually part ways.”

Micky Charles continued: “From now, the assistant coach Nana Adarkwah takes charge of the team until the appointment of a new coach. We ask the players and the fans to support him.”

The Techiman City boss also touched on rumours linking his side to immediate past Hearts of Oak coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

“Kenichi is a fine coach, he is not bad. Nobody gave him the chance when he arrived but he proved himself. This does not mean we are in for him at the moment. There is nothing like that,” he denied.

Techiman City were held to a 1-1 draw by Asante Kotoko on the resumption of the second round of the league and will next travel to face AshantiGold on Wednesday, June 29.
